Karkinos Healthcare propels India’s cancer care services with Tata Group’s backing of Rs. 110 crores

Comprehensive digital oncology platform, Karkinos Healthcare closed a funding round with the Tatas Group drawing an investment of Rs. 110 crores. Tata Group has disbursed Rs. 35 crores immediately and the rest of the funding is expected to be disbursed by the Group in tranches in the coming months. Investment in Karkinos Healthcare has proved that the Tatas has been aggressively pursuing their interest in healthcare with green field and brown field ventures.

Mumbai-headquartered Karkinos Healthcare is also in advanced stage of talks to raise an additional round of funding from some of the leading business leaders, including Ratan Tata, Venu Srinivasan, Ronnie Screwvala, and Bhavish Aggarwal among others.

Karkinos, founded by former Tata employees, R Venkataramanan and Ravi Kant along with former BCCI Chief Operating Officer Sundar Raman, also has medical entrepreneur Shahvir Nooryezdan and Avanti Finance COO, Manish Thakkar as its co-founders. The company’s medical team is spearheaded by world-renowned oncologists like Dr. Moni Abraham Kuriakose and Dr. R. Sankaranarayanan, who have volumes of expertise in the prevention, detection, and treatment of cancers.

Karkinos enables access to cancer care near the patient’s home driven by geo-tagging of care partners. The company is pioneering the Distributed Cancer Care Network model in India, which recently found a mention in the leading medical journal – Lancet Oncology.
