Dr. Nabeel Bardeesy

Dr. Nabeel Bardeesy is an Associate Professor of Medicine at the Harvard Medical School and the Massachusetts General Hospital Cancer Center where he holds the Gallagher Endowed Chair in Gastrointestinal Cancer Research. He is co-director of the Harvard Cancer Center Specialized Program in Research Excellence in Gastrointestinal Cancer. He received his PhD in Biochemistry from McGill University and conducted his postdoctoral training at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute on pancreatic cancer biology. Dr. Bardeesy’s laboratory focuses on pancreatic and biliary tract cancers. His work is concentrated on three primary areas: The development of model systems that recreate the genetic building blocks of these cancers; defining the role of altered cell differentiation in cancer formation; and the identification of targeted therapies tailored to a patient’s individual genetic makeup. He serves on the Scientific Advisory Boards for the Cholangiocarcinoma Foundation and the Forbeck Foundation.
