
Kumar Satyam
Kumar Satyam has been working in making healthcare communications easier, simpler and efficient. Early in his career he made a conscious decision to stay in Healthcare and in India. It’s been 16 years since.
First 8 years he worked in healthcare startups primarily around Radiology Imaging , PACS systems , DICOM Archives and data integration & migration. Next phase of his career took him to GE Healthcare where he spent close to 6 years and before joining Karkinos Healthcare he was working in Philips.
At Philips Kumar Satyam was leading the architecture team for the Interoperability solution business category which is responsible for building & deploying standards based Health Information exchanges & enabling Philips interoperability and providing enterprise solutions to hospitals and IDNs. He was also part of the core group exploring India market possibilities & leveraging NDHM. During his stint at GE, as core member of global Interoperability CoE , he was the Technical person responsible for setting up global interoperability testing lab, process and tooling. As Architect & later as engineering manager for GE Centricity EMR interoperability he led the API initiative for Centricity business solutions division, which started as Meaningful use compliance requirement, and later transformed into a FHIR platform for the Centricity solutions and a third party app developer platform and app store.
In his volunteer capacity Kumar Satyam leads the technical committee of HL7 India and have been building the FHIR India community. Kumar Satyam was involved in reviewing NDHM FHIR profiles and has helped NRCEs team with FHIR knowhow, and briefly volunteered with Ispirt.
Of all the layers of interoperability Kumar Satyam believes the most difficult layer to fix is the people layer, Technical & data interoperability are also important. This is where the community plays a role through its people.
